Welcome to the second instalment in this little mini-series, the Skincare Edition! If you haven’t already, make sure you check out my first post about all the Makeup Brands I want to explore a bit more. But, in case this is the first post you’re reading, I decided to split these posts up into Makeup, Skincare and Haircare, because honestly, there are way too many brands to talk about! So, this post is going to be taking you through some skincare brands that have really impressed me and made me want to explore their product range more. I’m going to go through the products I already have, why I love them and what I want to try next.
Skincare is something I am very passionate about. And, I think it’s safe to say that over the past year it has developed into something of an addiction. Don’t get me wrong, I love makeup, but skincare will always hold a special place in my heart. I have tried loads of different skincare brands, and I have so many boxes of products I have yet to try. But like a true addict, it’s just not enough, I need to try more.
Pixi by Petra
The Pixi Glow Tonic is a cult beauty favourite for a reason. I am sure by now that most people have tried it. But, if you haven’t had a chance, its worth it to see what all the hype is about. Yes, it is a bit expensive, but in my eyes, it’s definitely worth it. The Glow Tonic contains Glycolic Acid, which gently exfoliates and tones the skin. It leaves you looking, well, glowing. And, the best part is that it is even suitable for sensitive skin.
But, Pixi has so much more to offer than just this cult favourite. Honestly it’s really difficult to whittle it down to just a few products I would love to try, because I have heard great things about pretty much all Pixi products. I am very intrigued by their Rose Caviar Essence, which looks and sounds, like pure luxury. Essence is a step that I have recently incorporated into my skincare routine. And, my dry skin is thanking me so much for it.
I have also heard really amazing things about their facial mists. In particular, I would like to try their Vitamin Wake Up Mist. Honestly, I have struggled to jump on the mist bandwagon in the past because I always buy them and then forget about them. Because the Vitamin Wake Up Mist can be used in the place of your toner, I think I would use it. Also, it looks absolutely perfect to carry around in your handbag!
The Body Shop
When I used to think of the Body Shop, all that came to mind was their intensely sweet body butters from their Christmas Gift Sets. That may seem like an oddly specific memory, but I’m sure a lot of 20 year olds can now relate to it. But, in the 10 years since I was inundated with those sets, the Body Shop have really grown into an amazing all-round brand.
Not too long ago, I wrote a post reviewing a couple of products from their Drops of Light collection; the Face Wash and the Essence. They are amazing products which completely transformed my skin, and you can read the post here. After using these products for a while now, I am ready to try some more of their stuff out.
I was lucky enough to be inviting to a Bloggers Event at the Briggate Leeds Body Shop recently. It was amazing because it gave me an opportunity to really have a good look at what products they have to offer. Above everything else, I was drawn to the Vitamin C range. I have read loads of things about the amazing skincare benefits of Vitamin C, but surprisingly it isn’t already included in my skincare routine! In particular, I love the look of the Glow Revealing Liquid Peel. When I tried it in store, I could already tell that it would be an extremely addictive product. I mean, you can actually see the little clumps of dead skin coming off! I also am desperate for the Vitamin C Skin Reviver to be in my life. It gives your skin a smooth, even finish, whilst also blurring the appearance of pores.
The SkinFood Black Sugar Wash Off Mask is one of my Holy Grail Skincare products (You can read my full review here.) I discovered this little gem on my first trip to South Korea, and have been repurchasing it ever since. The South Korean beauty industry is hailed for its innovations for a reason. I think it’s safe to say I have loved pretty much every Korean skincare product I have used.
Honestly, their website has an overwhelming amount of choice. But, I did manage to find a couple more gems. As someone which perpetually dry skin, I love the look of the Freshmade Coconut Mask. They actually have an entire range of these masks and they all look incredible! I am also very intrigued by the Tea Tree Secret Spot Patches. I have actually read quite a lot about these spot patches and they seem like such a game changer. The idea is that after you’ve cleansed, you apply patch onto any angry, red spots, leave it for 8-12 hours and then, as if by magic, the spot is significantly reduced. I don’t know about you, but to me that just seems too incredible for words!
Polaar is a brand that I discovered through Birchbox. I received a sample size of their Polar Night Cream and I am so in love with it. The cream itself is quite thick, but it sinks into the skin beautifully. Also, the scent it out of this world! It is so clean and fresh. It works its magic overnight and you wake up with the most perfect, smooth looking skin. I seriously cannot recommend it enough.
I would love to give their Arctic Cotton Velvety Cleanser a go. It seems like it would suit my dry, sensitive skin down to a T. I have also heard a lot of good things about their Genuine Lapland Cream. This cream is meant to be fantastic for defending your skin against everyday pollutants, keeping it soft and hydrated.
Sport FX is another brand that I discovered through a Beauty Box. I have tried their Definition Duo Eyeliner Pencil and I’m desperate to try out more of their makeup. (I actually wrote about the Definition Duo pencil in My Holiday Makeup Bag Essentials) However, I didn’t actually realise that they also have a skincare range!
This range is geared towards helping your skin through the recovery process, both pre and post workout. Although at the moment it’s by no means an extensive range, I love the look of all the products. But, the absolute highlight has to be the Cool Down Primer and Recovery Gel. This gel is sweat resistant and works just like a normal primer. But, it also functions as a post-workout soothing gel, helping your skin cope through changes of temperature and environment. I feel like this is definitely a product I need in my life!
So, what are the skincare brands you want to explore a bit more? If you have tried any of the brands or products that I have mentioned in this post then I would love to know your opinion of them down in the comments! Also, any product recommendations are always welcome on this blog, so don’t be shy!
