Now May is drawing to a close it’s time to reveal my May favourites! I have been loving, and borderline obsessing, over a lot of things this month. From old beauty favourites, some under-appreciated products, to supermarket fashion steals. And, as always, I’ve thrown in the Netflix series I have been binging in May!
So without further a-do, here are my May favourites!
I have been hit hard by blusher. It’s not something I have ever really used, and thats something I go on about more in my May Glossy Box Unboxing. But, this blusher changed my mind, as well as my makeup. I love everything about this product: the gorgeous coral colour, the way it gives you a subtle glow and most of all, how easily it blends. Seeing as this is the only blusher I own, I am definitely in need of branching out to a few new ones! (Any excuse to shop.) If you have any suggestions, please put them down in the comments!
Benefit Brow Products – Gimme Brow and Precisely My Brow Pencil
In my never ending quest for the perfect brow product, I have returned to Benefit. These were actually the first higher end brow products I ever purchased. And I loved them, at first. That was until I started to feel like the colour of the Precisely My Brow Pencil was more orange, and less blonde. I had no such problems with the Gimme Brow Gel, which is a miracle.
I spoke a bit about the Gimme Brow Gel in my Essential Makeup Products for Busy Days post. But, I think a favourites post justifies a bit more detail. My eyebrows are very patchy. I was a classic case of over plucking as soon as I was old enough to get my hands on a pair of tweezers, and I have been regretting it everyday since. I have been trying to grow them out, but in the mean time, this product has been my saviour. It’s a tinted brow gel that actually makes your brows look thicker. Honestly, I don’t know how it does it, all I know is how well it works. If you have patchy brows like me, you need this! It’s also great to layer over your eyebrow pencil to keep your brows in shape all day.
Now, the Precisely My Brow Pencil is a completely different story. The colour is touch and go for me because of the orange tinge. But, if you only use it sparingly, just for filling in sparse patches then this isn’t noticeable. But, the formula of this product is so beautiful. It fills in your brows in perfect hair-like strokes, and brushes out so naturally. If you aren’t blonde, I would recommend trying this pencil in other colours, (something I may have to do myself). Also, who can resist that packaging?
Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Highlight in Luminous
If there is one thing you need to get that summer glow, it’s highlight. And, this Urban Decay Naked Illuminated powder is everything. This was actually recommended to me by one of my best friends, and I am so surprised I don’t see people speaking about it more! If you’re a fan of a more subtle highlight, then this probably isn’t the product for you. The sparkle is real, and it’s intense. Naked Illuminated is perfect for summer days and nights out on the town. It has definitely become an absolute makeup bag essential for me.
The Body Shop Honey Bronze Powder
Being very pale, I have always struggled finding a bronzer that doesn’t look ridiculous on my skin. However, I struck so lucky with this Body Shop Bronzer. The colour is perfect because it doesn’t have the same orange undertones as a lot of bronzers. Also, it has a really subtle colour pay off, so you can gradually build up the product to get the glow that you want.
Honestly, I have never really considered using any of the Body Shop’s makeup, but this has really changed the game for me and I’m really excited to try more of their products!
This month for me it has been all about supermarket fashion. I’m no snob when it comes to clothes, if I see something cute, no matter where it’s from, I’m going to buy it. And yes, I probably do have a shopping addiction. Anyway, when I went into Sainsbury’s, I was blown away by how massively they have stepped up their clothing range! Here’s a couple of pieces I just couldn’t resist:
Tencel Belted Shorts
These shorts are an absolute dream for so many reasons. To start, the top is elastic so you just know they are going to be super comfy, but the elasticated part is disguised by the cutest ribbon. Basically, it’s a win win. But the best thing by far about these shorts is their length. They are a floaty denim anyway, but they also aren’t extremely short.
I feel like I have always been very unlucky with denim shorts. I can never find the right balance between showing off enough leg and my arse hanging out. But hopefully these shorts will change the game for me!
Circle Drop Earring
What I love about these earrings is that they look so much more expensive than they actually are. But I can’t actually find them anywhere on the Sainsbury’s website. But, never fear, I’m sure if you pop into your local branch you will be able to find them!
Rituals – Ritual of Sakura Bed and Body Mist
I am so obsessed with this Rituals scent. I actually have the shower oil and body cream in the rituals of Sakura range. What I love most about this scent is how it manages to be both fresh and luxurious at the same time. But that’s a common theme for Rituals products. If you are looking for a light scent for everyday wear, then you will love this!
Also, I would highly recommend every product out of this range. Especially if you want to add a touch of luxury to your daily routine.
Everyone knows about this series, and I imagine everyone has watched it too. Of course, the is the very vague adaptation of everyone’s favourite GirlBoss Sofia Amoruso’s life leading up to the explosive launch of the Nasty Gal website. I laughed my socks off, and then I bawled my eyes out. This series was even better than I had hoped it would be. If you haven’t watched it already then what are you even doing? Go. Now. Go and watch it.
Sense 8 – Season 2
I literally binge watched the second season of Sense 8 in two days. I mean, is there any other way to watch a Netflix series? Or any series for that matter? I loved the first season and this was just as amazing! I’m so excited for there to be a third. If you haven’t seen Sense 8, it’s about a group of people from countries all over the world who are connected. This means they are able to experience each others lives, and communicate from anywhere, just using their brains. It’s awesome.
I would love to know some of your May favourites down in the comments! Also, I am always down for Netflix recommendations so I can have a binge!
Make sure you like this post if you enjoyed it, and make sure to give it a pin!
