Review: Body Shop Drops of Light Collection

So up until recently, I didn’t view The Body Shop’s products in the best light. I thought they were just mainly thick, sickly smelling creams and not much else. I was the victim of receiving way too many of their gift sets at Christmas, which is probably what tipped me over the edge. So, when their saw their new skincare and makeup collections advertised, it goes without saying that I was surprised. I had disregarded them for so long, but I shouldn’t be surprised that they had managed to up their game in the 10 years since I stopped shopping there.

But this isn’t meant to be a post ragging on The Body Shop, the complete opposite in fact. I have now bought more from the body shop in this past month than anywhere else!

Although I loved the look of their Oils of Life collection, I already have millions of oil-based products that I want to get through. So, I went for the Drops of Light collection instead. This collection aims to even out your skin tone, and brighten and smooth your complexion, which are all must haves for my skin type.

And let me tell you, these products do exactly what they say on the tin.

Brightening Cleansing Foam

So I think this was the first time that I ever spent over £5 on a face wash. Some skincare lovers may say that’s me being a cheapskate, others will say it’s practical. I guess I just never thought an expensive face wash would be worth the money. I mean they all do the same thing right?

Anyway, long story short, I bought a £12 face wash, which is indulgence at it’s finest, and I don’t regret it at all.

You see, I have always struggled with dermatitis, and I am extremely eczema prone (TMI I know). Sometimes, I even get eczema on my face, which is a nightmare. But this cleansing foam is proving to be a life-saver. Of course, it doesn’t get rid of any eczema related problems you may have, but it doesn’t aggravate them either.

This is the first cleansing foam I have used that literally leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean and moisturised after use. I’ve only been using this product for about 2-3 weeks and I’m already noticing the difference, especially in the tone of my skin, which has completely evened out. It’s like living in a dream.

One of the things I love most about this product is that a little goes a long way. I feel like a lot of products say on the instructions that you only need a pea-sized amount, but you actually need way more. With this cleansing foam, a pea-sized drop actually can cleanse your entire face and neck. Which in my eyes is nothing short of a miracle. I can see this product lasting me a long time!

Brightening Essence Lotion

Using essence lotions is really popular within the Korean Beauty scene. I have actually used one that I purchased in Seoul before, but I just never got around to purchasing another. Until now!

The idea of essence is that you apply it right after using your toner, and it should improve the absorption of the products you use after it, as well as having it’s own benefits.

This particular essence is meant to brighten and even out the skin tone, as well as smoothing and plumping. I like to pat a coin sized amount lightly onto my face and neck, following with a moisturiser. The Brightening Essence is such a perfect compliment to the Cleansing Foam. I really love using products from the same range together because I feel like that’s how you achieve the most effective results.

I think i’m definitely going to buy more products from this range! You can view and purchase the whole collection here.
